Jason Graves Scores Tomb Raider Reboot
Jason Graves (Dead Space, Silent Hunter) has officially confirmed that he is scoring Crystal Dynamics' reboot of the Tomb Raider series, due out in March. Graves took a thematically driven approach to the score, depicting Lara Croft with a piano-based theme and arranging it in different styles and moods throughout the score. Much of the score has a percussive focus, with Graves working with a sculpture to create a whole new instrument to depict the horrifying island setting. He cites influences from ballad composers such as Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky, as well as avant-garde greats such as Krzysztof Penderecki. A soundtrack will be included in the special editions of the game in North American and Europe. To learn more about the score and hear some samples, check out this video.
