Game music remixing community OC ReMix have relaunched their FFVI Kickstarter campaign, aiming to raise $30,000. While OC ReMix's upcoming FFVI tribute album, scheduled to encompass 5 CDs, will be distributed for free download via their website, the Kickstarter campaign will finance a limited run of licensed physical copies of the album. The project boasts an impressive line up of remixers, including Jake "virt" Kaufman, Danny Baranowsky, Andrew and Jillian Aversa, Jimmy Hinson, Joshua Morse and Shnabubula. According to project manager Andrew Aversa, the project's goal is to "arrange the bulk of the FFVI soundtrack in a varied (but cohesive) range of musical styles". A Kickstarter campaign for the album was launched earlier this year, but was suspended due to licensing issues with Square Enix, which have since been resolved.
After three Indie Game Music Bundles, its organisers have released the iGame Music Bundle, a collection of soundtracks for portable games, available for a limited period of time. The bundle includes several high profile indie game scores, including Austin Wintory's excellent Horn, Bundle exclusive Squids: Wild West by Romain Gauthier, Puzzlejuice by Big Giant Circles, Globulous by zircon and Jeff Ball, and several more. The bundle is available on a pay-what-you-want basis from $1, making this collection an easy recommendation for anybody interested in quality indie game music.
