Resident Evil 5

It may not be a radically new Resident Evil 5, but the PC version of the game still manages to hold its own with an improved control scheme and extra Mercenaries mode.

PC Gamer

A wildly entertaining third-person shooter that fully realizes its potential on the PC with vastly superior graphics, better controls and an epic co-op experience. [Nov 2009, p.66]

Resident Evil 5 isn't exactly perfect, but it's so close, none of its flaws upset the experience as a whole. Buy it for yourself, but bring a friend for maximum enjoyment.

Vandal Online

Hands down, a great adaptation of a great game.

You are missing out on so much if you decide not to play this game.

Resident Evil 5 is a must-have game. It isn’t without minor flaws, but they do little to undermine everything that Capcom did so very right.

With a whole heap of content to unlock, a campaign that begs to be replayed and top of the line production values there's very little to be disappointed with.

There a few things that we do not like on the PC (controls for example). But this conversion is a lot better than the catastrophe that Resident Evil 4 was on the PC.

The five months gape is, only partly, justified by the excellent port made by Capcom. On the other hand it's still the same product seen in March, but on a different platform, that for technical superiority manages to squeeze even more the excellent graphic engine. Whether an action or survival horror, in fact the truth is in the middle, grant it the benefit of the doubt and you'll surely be satisfied.

Gamer Limit

As a game, RE5 has its share of faults, but as a port, I have to say that this is one of the best games converted from console to PC I've ever seen.

There's not much new here. But if you have a decent PC and have a desire to check this one out, you can rest easy in the knowledge that it's a pretty decent conversion.

That's how a good port has to look! The power of the PC is well used, but not spent without use, and a few extras spice up the game. Especially in two-player-mode Resident Evil 5 is great fun.

Resident Evil 5 doesn't exactly add much novelty to the series, but it's a heck of an action game nonetheless. Audio-visually it's a gem and the puzzles and the survival aspect create the needed diversity. The bosses are impressive, to say the least. Capcom has finally discovered how to port a console game to a pc in a decent way. This game comes highly recommended.

It aims for deep unconscious fear, and not for the superficial Goosebumps. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle, but whatever the conclusion, Resident Evil 5 is surely the best nightmare of the year, one you can experience with your eyes wide open.

It is a further footstep in the u-turn tried with the fourth episode, however it risk to get angry the players which are searching for an experience more channeled in the rules of the genre.

Resident Evil 5 is "only" an amazing game, a label that the 90% of the third person shooters would want for themselves. The cooperative mode is just sensational and the story mode is plenty filled with non-stop action. The huge amount of contents will make you forget the lack of any kind of innovation in its concept.

Resident Evil 5 is a fun and frantic evolution of RE4's breakthrough gameplay and the series' horror themes.

Play Magazine

Resident Evil 5 should be the perfect type of game to use with 3D Vision glasses, and now we can confirm that it is. With upgraded textures and effects, new Mercenary modes and character costumes, and superior control options, it’s another outstanding PC outing for Capcom.

The single-player and co-op intertwine really well.

A PC port done right. [Christmas 2009, p.88]

Strategy Informer

As the name suggest, expect more enemies, and a harder fight for survival.

Pelit (Finland)

Although not as good a game as four, five is still extremely entertaining and this time even very well converted! [Nov 2010]

The translation from the consoles to the PC is a mission done well by Capcom. Although the extras aren't that interesting and you see the loading screens a bit too long, the PC-version has a lot of positives sides as well. And the way you control the game is perfect, and it does contain some extras as well. Resident Evil 5 is a much more polished game on the PC, that makes everything looks a bit better than on the console.

The true value of this release is how it represents another glorious step forward for the ongoing lean towards of co-operative gaming in the industry. In that sense, it's a huge success.

PC Format

Silly and linear, but still remains compulsive desire the repetitive gameplay. [Nov 2009, p.96]

Total PC Gaming

Tense, scary and fun. [Issue#25, p.53]

Worth Playing

Overall, if you can put up with DRM and GFWL headaches, and don't mind risking losing your save games and progress - or at least having them tethered and more complicated than they need to be - Resident Evil 5 for the PC is probably the version to get.

More than six months after the fact, PC gamers can get their hands on Capcom's latest instalment in the Resident Evil series. Significantly optimised graphics, improved aiming, better inventory management and new extras arguably make this the finest version of the title but if you've already played it on a console, there's not enough here to warrant another investment.

One of the best ports that Capcom has managed to PC in the last years. Resident Evil 5 offers some real action, amazing graphics and interesting co-op gameplay. The PC version allows you to explore new ways in Mercenaries mode, 3D graphic technology and stunning cinematics.

LEVEL (Czech Republic)

Where did this famous horror go? RE5 still could have been a great action game. If only the controls were suited for the action game. Co-op mode is worth trying you can curse level design and A.I. all together. [Oct 2009]
